About Us
About Us

i Cento School was founded in 2002 by an exceptional group of individuals who had a vision and a tremendous belief in bringing the Reggio Emilia approach to our community. The school was named "i Cento" in honor of the poem "The 100 Languages of Children" written by Loris Malaguzzi shortly after World War II.  Our school began with two teachers, nine children, and an incredibly dedicated group of families that believed in our vision.  Since then, we have grown to over 100 students and 15 faculty and staff members at a beautiful location on River Road where we look forward to teaching the children of New Braunfels and the surrounding communities.

All elementary faculty at i Cento School are certified teachers with at least a four year university degree. Our toddler staff is highly qualified, loving, nurturing and often degreed as well.  We strive to create an environment where adults and children come together to play, work, talk, think, and invent.  It is through that interaction and stimulation that children make sense of their learning and, therefore, the world around them!

We encourage the children to solve problems while engaged in project work so they learn to take responsibility for their own learning.  Teachers act as facilitators of the curriculum and encourage the children to proceed with projects through their individual and group interests.  Students are encouraged to develop their own answers to well-thought out, interesting questions.

Thus, through encouragement, we teach the children to think.
